Simple Elegance

Sarah & Tyler- July 24, 2010

St. Christopher’s Church- Bridgewater Club

I started working with the Pallone Family about 2 months ago on bringing all the final details together for Sarah & Tyler’s big day. I worked very closely with Sarah’s mom, Teresa, since Sarah & Tyler live in Chicago. Let me just say her mom had the cutest planning binder with everything marked and tabbed specifically for each part of the wedding. I just loved her lists she would bring to the meetings! I always knew this wedding was going to have just the simplest touches to make it so elegant and everything Sarah wanted in her wedding day!

The Tuesday before the wedding, I had asked Sarah if she would be in town so that I would be able to meet her before the wedding. All of our communication leading up to the wedding was done through phone calls and emails. Sarah, her sister Katie, her mom Teresa and I decided to meet at Starbucks and enjoy a coffee while talking about the wedding. I really enjoy getting to know my brides in the time I work with them and Sarah was no different. At our meeting, I just couldn’t help but notice how alike Teresa, Katie, and Sarah were. You just couldn’t miss that they were related! After our meeting, I felt so good about the upcoming day!

The big day was here and I met Sarah and her bridesmaids as they got beautified at the Renaissance. We headed over to St. Christopher’s Church around 2 o’clock for Sarah to get dressed and take some individual pictures with Andrew Scalini. Let me just say this church was so sleek and had these gorgeous red doors as you walked in the narthex, but Sarah putting on her beautiful dress outdid anything that day. She looked simply amazing! Tyler and the groomsmen arrived a little later for some of their individual shots and then it was time to get married. Around 5 o’clock it was official Sarah & Tyler became Mr. & Mrs. Crookston!!!

The guests headed over to the Bridgewater Club for cocktail hour and to enjoy some time out of the blazing heat. My assistant Kelly had the room set and looking beautiful with the tables draped in ivory somerset linens, gold chargers, and gold chivari chairs around each table setting. The floral arrangements from Alan at McNamara had the most luscious calla lilies. Classic Cakes had the ivory cake with simple touches of black on a black somerset linen on the middle of the dance floor. I was able to show the mother of the bride Teresa the room and she loved what had come together. Once the bridal party had arrived at the Bridgewater from some outside shots I was also able to show Sarah & Tyler the room and Sarah had tears in her eyes. It was such a great moment!

The evening was well on it’s way with a special entrance by the bridal party, cake cutting, a heart felt welcome by Sarah’s dad Bill, dinner, great speeches by both Katie & Ben, and dances. I can’t forget to mention the surprise Sarah gave Tyler since he does not like cake. It was a grill with two streaks on top and flames all made out of ice cream!!! How great!!! The evening was kept alive on the dance floor by Jeremy of DJ’s Direct and Mary Howald of Sorella Filmworks captured the entire day even up to the sparkler send off!! Congrats Sarah & Tyler!!! Enjoy paradise in Puerto Vallarta!

July 24th, 2010!

Two amazing weddings went on this past weekend! First, we had one at the Columbia Club! A beautiful ceremony took place on the main floor and the reception moved upstairs to the third floor! They had amazing pink roses in their centerpieces that set off the room! What a great view from right on The Circle downtown!

Our other wedding this weekend had their reception at the Crowne Plaza. Their colors were yellow and black! They had three various centerpieces and the room looked amazing with the contrast of tall and short centerpieces! The ceremony looked fabulous with flowers and white chiffon lining the aisle as the beautiful bride walked down to meet her groom! What a magnificent night for both of our brides!

Regal Royal Wedding

Ragan & Gary
July 17,2010
Scottish Rite Cathedral
Gosh, I don't know how even to begin this blog post. I met Gary and Ragan over a year ago when I was planning Ragan's mom’s wedding, Sylvia. Sylvia told me that her daughter would be getting married soon and wanted me to plan that wedding as well. I was psyched to say the least! So a few weeks after her mom's wedding Ragan called me and we started the planning the process! Finding a date was difficult - Ragan is in medical school and with Gary's football schedule, I think we changed the date at least 6 times. Finally July 17th STUCK. So our first hurdle was overcome. After getting to know Ragan and Gary a bit more, I was able to get a sense of how they wanted their wedding. And it was going to be FABULOUS. Because of the couples' busy schedules I relied on Morgan, Ragan's sister a lot. Morgan and I became fast friends. We had numerous phone consultations and countless emails back and forth between us.
Our plan was to totally transform the Scottish Rite Cathedral into something that has never been done before. AND WE DID!!!!
Preparations began for the event on Friday. The setup crew worked around the clock. Since the ceremony and reception were taking place all in the same building Gary and Ragan were able to see the rooms half way setup. They were thrilled at what they saw but I assured them that everything will be far better looking tomorrow!!! I was so glad that their photographer, Andrew Scalini and videographer Bob Ridge were able to come to the rehearsal. Ragan was given her wedding gift and it was captured with photos and film!!! After the rehearsal, the couple and their friends and family enjoyed an evening at the Skyline Club.
On Saturday the ladies started hair, makeup and nails at 5am. Which I thought was crazy but between 12 ladies needing to get ready they needed every minute and even a bit more. Once the ladies arrived I rushed them down to the wardrobe room to get dressed. Ragan’s dress was amazing!!! Once Gary and the groomsmen arrived things were in full swing. He took a quick peek at the ballroom and said "WOW, I can't believe it." Then he was ready to see his bride-to-be. It was great that the couple wanted to see each other before the wedding because it gave us plenty of time to do pictures. When pictures were over everyone had a quick break, and then it was ceremony time!
I was worried that we would run late starting the ceremony and we did, but only by 2 minutes!! When Ragan walked down the aisle with her mother it was magical. I couldn't hold back the tears. The ceremony was meaningful and personal. After the ceremony guests mingled upstairs at the cocktail hour while the bridal party hung out in our "lounge" area. Everyone enjoyed tasty munchies and delicious drinks. Guests then made their way downstairs to the ballroom for dinner. We had them take the back staircase because we wanted the lounge area to be a surprise. When everyone was seated DJ Limelight and his crew announced in the wedding party!! After one of the most delicious wedding meals I've had, we did toasts, cut the AMAZING cake and did the father/daughter dance. Ragan danced with Robert while Gary danced with their daughter Brie. So touching. Then we did a quick wardrobe change with Ragan for the start of the PARTY. Our plan was to start the dancing off with a New Orleans tradition of the Second line. Morgan grabbed the microphone and explained to everyone what was about the happen and to come and join in. It was great! Gary and Ragan lead everyone around the dance floor twirling their umbrellas. Such FUN!!!! Then, it was time to open "the lounge!” It was entirely too cool. White leather lounge furniture, purple carpet and monogrammed white panels and yummy desserts and late night snacks. Guests were loving it along with the FLIP BOOKS! The evening was FABULOUS!!!
I will be honest with everyone.. this was an AMAZING wedding. Tons of hard work went in to pulling it together but it was sooooo worth it. I got a call from Ragan's mom today and she told me that she doesn't know what she is going to do but the next party she has she wants me to be a part of it!!! THE entire family was a joy to work with. Everyone was so very gracious of work that we did for them. Which means so much to me.
I didn't do this wedding alone, I must give a BIG THANK YOU to everyone that played a part in this one. Andrew Scalini, Bob Ridge, Ashley Long, DJ Limelight, Alan Thompson, Renee Miner and the Thomas Catering staff, Brebeuf music department, Underground Groove Band, Karen White, Jennifer Swathwood, Indy Photo Booth, Akua Makeup artist, Evans Audio/Visual and of course my staff - Randi, Carrie, Tonya and Jen. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for an AMAZING, UNFORGETTABLE event!!!!!!
With a wedding like this, I see another Super Bowl win next season!!! Go Colts!!!

Weekend Preview!

We’re getting ready for a great wedding this weekend at the Crowne Plaza! With the beautiful, unique color combination of yellow and black, it’s sure to turn heads! The centerpieces are so amazing with black Manzanita branches that have stunning phaeleonopsis orchids and the vases are full of fresh lemons! The linens will be CCP signature black and white damask which will be a great accent to the fabulous yellow flowers! The mother of the bride has handmade silk sunshine yellow pocket squares for the groomsmen instead of traditional boutonnieres! What a modern twist on tradition. So unique and so incredible! To top the night off there will be dozens of black hanging crystals throughout the room which will set the wedding off perfectly! Can’t wait for another great weekend of weddings!

Brittany and Carter: July 10th, 2010

So when Brittany called me she said, “I’m looking to hire a wedding planner that can bring a design element to my wedding. I’ve been to three weddings this summer. One was $100,000, one was $45,000, and the other was $30,000….they were all nice but the $30,000 wedding really stood out to me. The $30,000 bride hired a wedding planner who brought another dimension to the wedding. That’s what I’m looking for, a designer and coordinator that can give me a magical wedding that has class and style.” I assured Brittany I was the planner for her and we soon began the planning process.

Throughout the process, Brittany and Carter knew exactly what they wanted. I love taking a reception site, and turning it into a wedding magazine cover! And that’s exactly what we did at the Skyline Club on the 36th floor in the AUL building downtown. Since Brittany and Carter live in Altanta, we did a lot of the designing through email and pictures. She would send me an inspirational picture, then I would send her something I discovered and the ideas started coming together. Soon the inspirational board was created and the final selections were made. As the design went underway the vendor selection took place. We stayed right on schedule, and booked the DREAM TEAM straight from the start. Traci from the Skyline Club, was on maternity leave so Amy, the intern, was there to assist us on the day of the event. Everything from the crystal chavarie chairs, the eggplant lamour shiny linens, and the crystals hanging over the dance floor brought this room to LIFE!

Guests were coming into the reception site during cocktail hour and grabbing a quick shot of the gorgeous room. The jaw dropping smiles made me realize we had really pulled this event into a DESIGNER masterpiece. I always say the hardest part as a designer is to get inside the head of your brides, but boy when you do MAGIC happens. I knew exactly what Brittany and Carter were looking for and we delivered. “Brittany is my kind of bride,” I told Tiffany from Nathaniel Edmunds Photography. Bob Ridge from Indy Visual was the fly on the wall capturing every romantic moment, Kira Lee from Eye Max completed the bride’s look, Brian Whitis kept the dance floor pumping, and Scott from Evans Audio Visual brought in the draping for the perfect head table. I knew these vendors would all work well together. With many weddings under our belt together, this day was bound to run smoothly. And sure enough, it was a perfect 14 hour day for this girl. I miss you Brittany!

I loved my text message on Sunday morning and that thank you was all I needed from you.

Wedding Love and Hugs,

T

Brent & Elaine

Brent & Elaine

The Mansion at Oak Hill

July 3, 2010

Vintage old style glamour, apple green hues, and the background of nature set the scene for Brent and Elaine’s beautiful sunny wedding day. I spent the morning with Elaine, her mom, Brent’s mom, and all the girls. The Renaissance Hotel had the perfect room for the girls to relax, enjoy company, and get glammed up for the big day.

We headed to The Mansion at Oak Hill with Stefanie Childs, of SB ChildsPhotography to take pictures of the girls while Brock Childs hung out with Brent and the guys back at the Renaissance to get some photos of them. Circle City Designers added an eclectic touch with the floral arrangements and my assistant Kelly made sure all the final details were put together in the room and helped me out with the ceremony too. Thanks Kelly for all that you do!

The ceremony went off great as the sun began to set and then Mr. & Mrs. Gulinson were off to take some more pictures as guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the tent outside. The guests were escorted up to The Mansion for dinner and dancing. Bob Ridge of IndyVisual captured every rockin moment as Zannadoo packed the dance floor all night long. The bride and groom along with their wedding party did a sparkler send off to top off the ending to a great night!

Enjoy some photos we took throughout the day and later we will feature some of SB Childs amazing work!

This weekend we had an AMAZING wedding for Brittany and Carter at the Skyline Club! What a beautiful view of downtown Indianapolis from 36 floors up! The reception looked absolutely breathtaking from all the silver accents to the hanging crystals over the dance floor, it definitely made for a night to remember!

The flowers were SO PERFECT with a variety of purple flowers that were accented with green Fuji mums and again more hanging crystals! After everything was put together with the lighting, centerpieces and crystals everywhere, the Skyline Club looked amazing!!!! Thank you to Bob Ridge from Indy Visual for sharing these photos with us!!!
