Kristen & Ryan Celebrate 1 Year!

Hello CCP lovers! Kristen and Ryan here! We had the pleasure of working with Tonya during our wedding on the canal last July and just celebrated our 1 year anniversary. Here are a few thoughts about life one year after the big day!

We didn’t live together before we got married so we were both in for a rude awakening when we started our adventure together as man and wife. Many a night, Ryan’s shins have managed to smack into the dresser drawers that I consistently leave open. On the other hand I’ve been amazed at the ungodly amount that my husband giggles when watching SpongeBob Squarepants on any given Saturday morning. Like every couple, we have our differences and working through them has definitely made us stronger.

Everyone will always tell you that your wedding day is “just one day” but we can’t tell you how many of our guests have said that all the personal details helped them truly celebrate us as a couple. One year later, we still love our wedding day even if it was just “one day,” it is the one day that marks the start of our lives together. To celebrate we shared the recreated top of our cake (I LOVE Heavenly Sweets!) with friends and family before our move to West Palm Beach. On the actual day of our anniversary Ryan brought me breakfast in bed, then we picnicked on the beach, watched our wedding video and shared a perfect ending to the day by dining at an oceanfront table at The Breakers for dinner. It was great day!

Since our wedding, I’ve met up with Tonya numerous times to catch up on each other’s lives or just to simply go shoe shopping. When you hire a Circle City Planner you’re truly making a new friend, one that honestly cares just as much about your life and your marriage as she does about your wedding day details.

Blessings to you all,
-Kristen and Ryan

We here at CCP are all about eating healthy (when we can find time to eat) and working out. We know our brides out there want to look great on their wedding day and the best way to achieve that goal is to find a great work out routine that you will want to stick with. We recently had the privilege of meeting with Crystal Hammon of Yogic Bride who explained the benefits of starting to practice yoga as a way to get in shape for your wedding.

Over 70 percent of brides say they want to lose weight before their wedding. But nothing sets you up for a lifetime of yo-yo dieting more than an obsession with prewedding weight loss. "That's especially true if you are already at a healthy weight," said Crystal Hammon, an Indianapolis yoga teacher and owner of Yogic Bride. New science showing a link between yoga and weight control is making yoga one of the top fitness trends among brides.

No one knows why for certain, but people who practice yoga are more successful at losing and maintaining weight. One theory is that yoga makes people more susceptible to change by improving their ability to observe what is happening internally in an objective, non-judgmental way. That changes the relationship of mind to body, and eventually, to food and eating. If you want to change you're the way you think about food, yoga gives you the spiritual connection to your body that can help you make those changes.

Yogic Bride is offering 8 free bridal fitness classes to the first three brides who respond to this article at info@yogicbride.com.

Inside Secret Wedding Planning Class...a HUGE Success!

In the month of June Circle City Planners launched the "Insiders Secrets" wedding planners class. This class was designed to help individuals who were looking to break into the wedding/event planning business. Tonya got back to her teaching roots and covered everything from how to start your own wedding planning business to how to create a color coordinated design board for a client. Tonya also met with each student, one on one, to help them figure out what their next step should be. This was something new for Circle City Planners, and it was so much fun. We had a great group of wedding planning enthusiasts who were so eager to learn what it takes to make wedding planning a career. Each student brought their own experiences and personality to the class which is part of what made the class such a success. We had so much fun getting to know each student and we wish them all the best of luck as they continue on their journey!

Student Testimonials

"Tonya you are a wonderful teacher. I really learned a lot and it was definitely worth the 2 hour drive a week! You have inspired me in more ways that you will probably ever know. Thank you"

"This class opened my eyes so much to how many different possibilities exist with in the wedding industry. You have been so inspiring and encouraging. Thank You!"

"Beyond my expectations! I have learned so much and feel that I can be great in this business."

Robert and Sylvia

July 11th 2009
Private Residence
Well, if anyone remembers last Saturday you know it rained and rained and rained. This wedding and reception was at Sylvia and Robert's house OUTSIDE. And as you know rain and outside really don't mix, but as always CCP overcame the outdoor conditions. Setup for the wedding actually started on Wednesday when the tent and all the rentals were installed. Then the decor was installed on Thursday with white chiffon and Chinese lanterns. Friday the luxurious portable restrooms were delivered, and Saturday we put on the finishing touches. Sylvia and Robert's vendors were unbelievable. Even though it rained throughout the day everyone pitched in to lend a helping hand. By the time guests started arriving the rain had stopped,we had the tent dry, a make shift walkway to the bathrooms and champagne and hor's dovures ready.
CCP FIRSTS.....This wedding we did things a little different. We started with cocktail hour first. Robert and Sylvia greeted everyone. One guest said "Am I late did I miss the ceremony?" Before the cocktail hour ended Sylvia snuck away and changed into her wedding dress. The ceremony was all about the family and very heartfelt. Adam, Robert's son wasn't able to attend but he wrote a poem and Ashley Robert's daughter read it as a part of the ceremony. Ragan and Morgan, Sylvia's daughters, also said some touching words during the sand ceremony. Of course, I was crying. After dinner, it was time to party!!!! The band had everyone on the dance floor doing the 2nd line. We even did a soul train. It was soo much fun. The last song of the evening was "Purple Rain". I couldn't help but laugh and sing outloud thinking to myself how appropriate since it rained all day and the main color of the wedding was purple. At the end of the night when most all of their friends and family had said their goodbyes Robert was still on the dance floor dancing and groovin' to the music. He had the biggest smile on his face. His smile made it all worth while. I have to give credit to my wonderful vendors: MaryBeth, Andrew, Casey, Stacy, Kevin, Jamiee, Julie, John, Gooch, Jamie, Jennifer,Stephanie,Tammy,Scott,Ryan,Tonya and last but most definitely not least Jen. Thank you all so so much. Lastly I would like to thank Buddy, Sylvia's grounds keeper. When I first came out and surveyed the property I thought WOW there is a lot of work to do. And Buddy you made it happen. You are absolutely wonderful!! Everyone did an amazing job and made this wedding a complete success!
When my couples get married I'm always very happy for them, but I know that I won't be talking to them as much which is always a little sad for me. However, with this wedding I don't feel like that at all. Ragan, Sylvia's daughter, will be getting married next year and I'm so excited to continue to visit with the Kenner family!

Circle City Planners has been named the exclusive FOX 59 Event Planner for the Wedding Day Giveaway. The 4 week series features a different wedding segment each week (couple, dress, rings, and designs). We were asked to create the designs for the TV Station. As part of the process, I was able to help select the winning couple who is awarded over $25,000 from the rings, dress, photography, design, and flowers. With over 300 entries, it was such a fun process!
