Summer is here and now it's time to plan a little fun. Over the weekend, my husband and I celebrated our 13th year of marriage. We escaped for a 2-day weekend get away at French Lick Casino and Resort. It was so romantic. I haven't been down to West Baden and French Lick for over 10 years. It has changed dramatically.
So the morning of our destination escape began with a couple's massage followed by my favorite Starbucks and a 2-hour drive. It wasn't even 12 and I was already relaxed. Once we approached the resort, I knew I was going to have a great time. We ventured straight for the pool with a little poolside cocktail. We love the sun! Then headed back to our room to get ready for a nice dinner at the finest steak restaurant a girl could ask for ... shrimp cocktail, sizzling steak, and a dessert to die for. This was an evening to remember. After we finished dinner, we took the shuttle over to West Baden to see the sites. It was so romantic, why haven't I done a wedding there?
The atrium was breath-taking as we sipped on wine and listened to smooth jazz. The next day we wrapped up a perfect trip with 18 holes of golf on the Donald Ross course. We played 9 holes, headed to the country club for lunch, and then finished our round (I love golf for those of you who are surprised!). A little bit of Tonya and a little bit of Mike, it truly was a magical anniversary get away.
So today's article is for you. What do you have planned with your groom this summer? Here are some hot dates that you should give a whirl before the big day approaches!
1. Baseball Games!
Most guys out there just LOVE summer for one reason... BASEBALL! Surprise your honey with tickets to see his favorite team play baseball. If his team of choice is from another state, take him to an Indian's Game!! What a fun idea for a date... just watch out for those foul balls.
2. Wine Tasting
Did you know that Indianapolis has their very own wine trail? Why not take a Saturday and go to all seven different locations in this area? You can pick up a Trail Passport at any trail winery and have it stamped once you visit each location! You will receive a free gift once you visit all seven. Visit: the Indy Wine Trail website for more information.
3. Outdoor Movies
During the summer, the Indianapolis Museum of Art offers the "Summer Nights Film Series" where you can have a picnic and watch a movie outdoors! While you are there, check out the beautiful gardens or galleries that the IMA has to offer! For more information regarding dates and times visit the Indianapolis Museum of Art's website!
4. St. Elmo's
Why not treat yourself to Indiana's very own, nationally recognized restaurant of choice? If this is out of the budget, try sharing a meal or just grabbing an appetizer. Their shrimp cocktail will "knock your socks" off... and might even clear up those annoying allergies! :)
5. Indianapolis Zoo
What is better than taking your honey to see all the cute and furry animals at the zoo? While you are there, make sure to stop and pet the "sharks" and see the new cheetah exhibit that opened this summer. If you are feeling romantic, take a stroll through the White River Gardens!
Wedding Love and Hugs,
Tonya
