Timeless and Classic
Mallory and Donald
March 24,2012
Scottish Rite Cathedral
Circle City Planners started the wedding season off with a BANG!! Mallory and Donald’s was the first wedding of the season and it was officially one for the record books. Everything was absolutely STUNNING!!!
I met the couple way back in April of last year. The venue had been selected, but everything else was up in air and the couple needed my help. We planned the wedding date around the Super Bowl thinking that Donald wasn't going to be traveling far. Who knew the Colts’ season was going to end up how it did? So, the date was set for late March and the wedding planning began. Mallory knew she wanted use the color combination yellow and navy. She sent lots of inspiration pictures and so we started planning around them. Once the we had all the vendors in place for the wedding we got to have lots of fun with the details. WOW what a vendor team it was- Dee Haddad, with Thomas Catering, Jessica Strickland Photography, Jet Kaiser videography, Evan's Audio Visual, Tiffany Mullen, of Circle City Designers, and Jill Sowder, from Westwood Paper all helped transformed the couple’s ideas into an amazing reality. I should also thank Jane Farr (calligraphy), Karen Hall & Co.( hair and makeup), Brittany from the Omni, Star of America & Antique Limo (transportation), Elite Parking (valet service), Dave and Rae (band/music) and the wonderful Eric Simpson, who officiated the ceremony! Bryce played guitar during ceremony and Monna played the organ and we also had a Kevin Miller's jazz band play during cocktail hour and dinner.
We were able to start setting the theater and ballroom on Friday before the wedding. And boy did we need the extra time! At the rehearsal, Mallory and Donald got a glimpse of what the ceremony space was going to look like and they were more than thrilled! The inspiration for the weddings were being transformed from paper to reality, and it was amazing. The theater at the Scottish Rite had never looked more beautiful. Mallory wanted to be surprised on Saturday so she didn't peek in the ballroom but Donald did and was blown away.
The morning of the wedding, I was a little nervous. It was a big wedding and I knew Mallory and Donald were counting on me to make sure everything went as planned. My husband and Tonya say I'm crazy, but I say, “if don't worry then I'm not doing my job”. Of course, everything went just as planned. The ladies looked beautiful, but Mallory looked AMAZING in her gown! Donald and I even played a little joke on one of his groomsmen.
At 5:30, Grandma Ruth started down the aisle. The decor and flowers were so beautiful, but if was the actual ceremony that made it one I will never forget. The couple’s mothers lit the unity candles, but they also spoke during the ceremony. It was so touching. Eric, their minister, performed one of the most heartfelt ceremonies I've ever witnessed. All of the guests were moved. You could really feel the love and commitment between Mallory and Donald and they just touched your heart when you saw them exchange their own vows. I always cry when a bride walks down the aisle but I think I cried at 5 times during the ceremony. After the ceremony, the guests went upstairs for cocktails and the bridal party went outside for pictures. At the end of cocktail hour, Mallory and Donald danced their 1st dance while all the guests watched from balcony. After dinner, Dave and Rae took center stage. The dance floor was packed the entire evening. Donald and Mallory even got up on stage!!! Donald played the bongos while Mallory and her friends sung backup for Rae. The night was so much fun!
Mallory and Donald were absolutely wonderful to work with. It was such a pleasure planning their wedding with them. Both were so gracious and thanked me numerous times for everything that I did. So, I'll end this post exactly how I started it... "This wedding was one for the record books!!!”
