Amy & Rick

Amy and Rick
September 8,2007
WOW! What a wedding. The day started off early at Mavris Arts and Event Center, unloading 142 pounds of white unscented candles, wine bottles and far too many wine corks for one person to count. The Christmas Light Pros were already there setting up. And John, Amanda and the rest of Mavris gang were dropping linens and cleaning up the room for the night's event. Things really started moving when Lindsey, our intern got there. Chad even swooped in and saved the day when the parents realized that they forgot the escort cards (Sorry about the speeding ticket).
Amy was beautiful in her ivory gown coupled with her cathedral length veil that has been passed down from generation to generation. The ceremony took place at Christ Church Cathedral. The couple had 9 of their closest friends standing up with them. Although, the day was raining it didn't bother either one them. We were even lucky enough to get some outside shots.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and hors'duvoers on the 1st floor of Mavris. They also took Polaroids of each other and wrote in Amy and Rick's guest book. After the couple took a sneak peek of the room, they invited everyone to join them upstairs for dinner and dancing. After the cake cutting ceremony, Amy and Rick both wrote a speech for one another, there wasn't a dry eye when they finished. Both speeches were so touching and showed how much they really loved each other.
At the end of the evening guests grabbed a cab back to their hotel and a favor bag filled with Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The evening was magical, another great wedding.

Autumn & Brian

September 2, 2007

I FORGOT MY CAMERA! This wedding was amazing and I can't believe I forgot my camera. Autumn's mom sent me these photos that a family friend captured. Let me first say that my prayers were answered and the CCP tradition lives on; Autumn and Brian were married OUTSIDE in the White River Gardens at the Indianapolis Zoo. It was about 85 degrees and as Autumn and her father walked down the aisle I got chills. She was beautiful and the Gardens were too. A chiffon arbor hung over the couple as they exchanged their vows. The cocktail hour and reception were held at the Five Star Conrad Hotel. As guests got off the elevator they saw a long table of wheat grass with placecards on top. Autumn and Brian took a sneak peek at the ballroom before the first guest arrived. I knew my job was complete when she said, "I never thought it would look this beautiful". There were high and low centerpieces, a monogram gobo shining on the wall behind the band, and chandeliers hanging down giving off just the right amount of light . Just like the ceremony the ballroom space was gorgeous. Guests enjoyed dinner and danced into the night. At the end of evening everyone threw tiny heart-shaped candy marshmallows as the newlyweds got into a horse and carriage for a ride around the city. How sweet! I also want to thank my team of professionals;you all did a great job!

Nancy & Doug

Nancy and Doug were such a fun couple. I had a great time working with them and Nancy's mom Jackie.
The day started off a little on the shaky side LITERALLY. The couple was to be married under the same huappah that Nancy's sister used 6 years earlier. It was made out of tree logs and went perfect with the rustic decor at Mavris Arts and Events Center. Unfortunately, there was an accident. A friend of the family was assembling the huppah and she fell off the ladder and broke her arm. I called 911, a first in my wedding planning career. Getting married under a huppah is very important in Jewish traditional so I knew something had to be done. I called one of our great friends Julie Acheson from Royal Creations and asked if she could help me out. Julie saved the day. The huppah made out chiffon and it was beautiful.
The ceremony started right on time and when Doug and Nancy were pronounced husband and wife there wasn't a dry eye in the room. The reception decor was simple but elegant. The couple loves their cats so in lieu of favors a donation was made to the Grant County Humane Society. Everyone enjoyed dinner and dessert and the dance floor was full the entire night. The day was a huge sucess.

Dawn & Brandon

It started out to be a rainy morning, I thought I was going to have to face the fact that we would be rained out for the first time in CCP history, but sure enough my prayers worked and they got married at the USS Indianapolis Canal area right on time. It was a perfect afternoon with a slight breeze. Just enough air to cool your brow and enjoy one of the last days of summer. Dawn and Brandon started off at the Indiana State Museum, Eiteljorg, and then came back to Canal area for pictures. As the people entered the ceremony site, they were greeted with a bottle of refreshing water. After the ceremony, they took a little walk down the canal to the cocktail reception on the East side of Vermont street. CCP Staff worked hard to complete the last minute details under the tent on the other side of the canal as the guests enjoyed their Sunset Cherry Brocktails (our cute name for the signature drink). When the bride and groom entered the tent for the first time, she just screeched with excitement. That’s when you know, you did a perfect job when they just can’t thank you enough. After the meet and greet over the bridge, the guests entered the Westside tent surrounded with luscious citron and brownie lamour linens. It was perfect. Boy, did they dance the night away! It was an enjoyable evening on the canal with a perfect sunset.

Amanda & Doug's Reception

Amanda and Doug’s fiesta went off with a bang! The event décor came to life with the lush linens and fun cuisine. The reception was held at the Mavris Arts and Events Center; we just love being there with Amanda and John. Everyone just raves about his place. When we designed the reception, I decided it would be cool to create a more casual atmosphere. We used different size tables for a variety and different colors for different tables for visual appeal. Downstairs during the cocktail hour, we only used the turquoise lamour and hot cerise and left the bold colors for a surprise upstairs. As the guests walked up the stairs after their mango margaritas, they found our most creative cupcake display. Boy, did those Gerber cupcakes turn out so cute (see picture). A bar was created in the middle of the room with 10 black barstools to encourage guests to grab a drink and watch the live band, etc. John added another dimension to my creation, by adding a light and height to the center bar area for glasses and liquor. It truly created the focal point in the room. Later, the groom’s triplets made their way upstairs to enjoy the 3rd floor pool table and play station. You must always keep the kids entertained, so the adult guests can dance the night away. The couple is off to Antigua for a romantic get away.

Alexis and Matt

Alexis and Matt

Color, Color, and more Color. What a gorgeous event and lovely couple. Alexis and Matt got married this past Saturday at the Trinity Episcopal Church on Meridian and held their reception at the Indiana State Museum. Matt’s mother, Jill Sowder from Westwood Paper Company in Carmel, hosted the rehearsal dinner at the NCAA, where the guests were able to play basketball and practice pitching with the pitching machine! What fun! I’m not going to lie, it was hot but Alexis never stopped smiling the entire time. The church was absolutely beautiful, with its 12th century history and uniqueness. We were able to help them create and design the event décor for the reception, and let me tell you what a beautiful site. They were able to incorporate personal touches every step of the way. Both bride and groom attended IU, so we decided to name the tables after their favorite places on campus. The groom’s nickname is SHREK, so we offered guests SHREK JUICE and FIONA PASSION as the signature drinks. Their main colors were green and eggplant, and WOW did they really pop. The lighting in the room just accented the tables the perfect amount. Oh yeah, did I tell you we offered the guests a fruit plate with fresh kiwi, grapes, and cantaloupe to match our colors. Those are the little touches that really make a difference. The cake table was lined with butterflies with Swarovski Crystals. To top off the event, the hot dog vendor waited outside for the guests to enjoy their 4th meal, just like at Kilroy’s on IU’s campus. I loved this lovely event. The colors were amazing and the valet topped the night with their complimentary parking.
