Radio Show

How exciting! Last Wednesday I was asked to be on the Radio Show "Too ManyCooks" on 88.7 at 9:30. It was so fun to be able to get on the air and talkabout what I love, WEDDINGS! Gary and Molly were wonderful hosts and mademe feel wonderful. They decided to put a different spin on the show byhaving Gary and I talk about the different food trends we are seeing in theWedding Industry, so here we were head to head discussing for 1/2 hour ourfavorite stories and taking calls. The callers made me a bit nervousbecause you never know what they are going to ask. (Boy, sure glad I acedSpeech 101 my freshmen year! You never know when it comes in handy.) It wasa blast! Too bad my husband forgot to listen :( but I got a cute pair ofpumps out of the deal. Till next time.......

Emily and Brian's Wedding March 31, 2007

Our first wedding of the season goes off with a bang! What a fun wedding. Emily and Chris were the perfect couple! They had their wedding at the Mavris Art and Event Center downtown. The day started off rainy, but ended with a beautiful sunset. The 4:30 ceremony was romantic with all the candles and wrought iron motif. The guests headed upstairs for cocktails while the jazz musicians started to heat up the night. Her theme was sky blue accented with chocolate and polka dots. Troy Hill was her photographer, Jason from Royal Oak Country Club was the caterer, and Jeremy from DJ’s Direct played the tunes for the evening. The two highlights that I loved were the cupcakes presented to the guests with sparkles lighting the way to celebrate Grandma’s birthday and the candy bar at the end of the night. We surprised the guests often and the clapping continued all night. What a fun couple! They both loved to dance. Thanks to our friend Amanda at Mavris, who said YES to everything we requested. Thanks gals for a great night!

ABC Conference

Tonya and I attended the Association of Bridal Consultants educational conference on Saturday, March 17th. The conference was held in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Vernon Manor Hotel. The conference focused on Inspirations & Motivations.

We left Indy early with our Starbucks in hand. The directions to the conference were a little misleading but we were able to finally locate the hotel before the seminar started!!!! So our first tip is always print off directions from Mapquest.

The morning started off with coffee and pastries and networking tips from Brennan Scanlon, Executive Director of Business Network Int'l. Then we moved into another ballroom for the morning presentation from Sasha Sousa of Sasha Sousa Events. WOW!!! She spoke about color and tone and the different ways that she was inspired. She also told us more about her wedding that was featured on Whose Wedding is it Anyway?

After her presentation, we had a Q&A. Sasha said the 3 things that make the biggest impact on a wedding are:
1. Flowers/candles
2. Lighting/linens
3. Great service

Then we had lunch which was very good. The afternoon presentation was from Karen Bussen of Karen Bussen Designs. Karen was full of energy, very down to earth and fun. Karen pulls inspiration from everywhere. She had a stack of papers about an inch thick just from her trip to Ohio. She told us about how she got started in the business and showed us pictures from her portfolio. Karen has a written 4 books and fifth one is coming out this fall.

The day wrapped up with coffee and wedding cake (my favorite) and a room discussion from wedding planner to wedding planner. We shared ideas of what we are doing for the upcoming season. Tonya and I left with a notebook full of new concepts, trends, a ton of inspiration and dying for a fountain diet coke. We are excited to share our new knowledge with our current brides and new potential ones too.

Kyle and Heidi

This was one of my favorite weddings from the year. Kyle and Heidi had a great sense of humor and made the day fun!
They danced the night away at the Indianapolis Yacht Club. Stacy and Mary were the photographers and captured the day with an artistic flare. This is one of my favorite photos that they made into a collage...

Wolfgang

I was able to meet Wolfgang this summer at the IMA. He was so funny and very nice. He signed our aprons and carried on all night. We had a cookoff competition which was so much fun. This is a night to remember. I was able to take my mother and mother in-law with me thanks to Monica.
